Posting Description

CORE MANAGER, Biology – The MIT BioMicro Center and Koch Institute Genomics Core, to join a highly collaborative team supporting a broad range of biological research projects in basic and applied biology; focus on coordinating the day-to-day operations of the experimental laboratory, oversee the training of technical personnel and researchers on advanced techniques and methods, and be responsible for ensuring the quality and timeliness of data production; and collaborate with the Director in evaluating and adoptingtechnologies and ensuring that the Center remains at the cutting edge of technology. The MIT BioMicro Center / Koch Institute Genomics Core provides support and training for researchers in over 100 labs across multiple departments and centers. As such, the ability to understand a broad variety of biological questions and be familiar with adapting existing methodologies to new biological areas will be critical to the success.

 

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: PhD in the life sciences and a minimum of two years related experience or Master’s degree and a minimum of four years related experience with evidence of original or collaborative scholarship; direct experience with genomic technologies spanning multiple methodologies in a research setting; experience with identifying solutions using a systematic, multi-step approach; broad knowledge of molecular biology and genomic methodologies; solid understanding of modern sequencing techniques; ability to multi-task, set priorities, produce polished results and thrive in a fast-paced environment; demonstrated excellent communication skills; and ability to work as part of a team and with users of diverse scientific/technical backgrounds. Job #24971
