The Institute of Communications and Navigation, with sites in Oberpfaffenhofen and Neustrelitz, is dedicated to mission-oriented research in selected areas of communications and navigation. These are embedded in the DLR programmes on space, aviation, transport and security.
What to expect
The group for Advanced Information Processing aims to apply the latest theoretical findings to real applications in the field of information technology. In particular, it focuses on the development and implementation of advanced concepts of quantum error correction for quantum computers and memories. As pioneers in this field, they play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of quantum technologies that have the potential to transcend the limits of conventional information technology.
Your tasks
- Development of new machine learning techniques for satellite communication
- Development of new communication protocols for federated learning, also for devices with limited computing capacities or limited energy budget
- Application of ML solutions to define advanced communication strategies for remote monitoring of sources in IoT systems considering terrestrial and/or non-terrestrial connectivity
- Implementation and application of the research results in specific projects for future transmission systems
- Acquisition, planning and management of national and international projects in the subject area
Your profile
- University degree (Master’s/Diploma Uni) in engineering (e.g. electrical engineering, information technology or communications engineering) or in the natural sciences (e.g. physics, mathematics) or other courses of study relevant to the position
- PhD in one of the abovementioned fields or comparable, with a focus on communications engineering or several years of professional experience in this field.
- Several years of experience in the theoretical foundations of communications/information technology
- Several years of experience in the field of machine learning, especially for appli-cations in communications technology
- Experience with PyTorch and/or TensorFlow libraries for machine learning
- Several years of international work experience, outside Europe desirable
- Experience in planning and managing scientific research projects
Remuneration depends on qualifications and job assignment up to pay grad 14 TVöD.
