DLR’s Responsive Space Cluster Competence Competence Centre (RSC³) in Trauen is a unique research facility in Germany that addresses in a holistic way the topic of Responsive Space. This exciting field of research deals with the question of how to respond faster, more flexibly and securely in space with the goal of increasing the overall resilience of critical infrastructures in space. To this end, innovative concepts and technologies are analyzed, developed and demonstrated at the RSC³. 

  

What to expect

In the Launch Segment department, we deal with the design and development of rapidly deployable space transport systems and the associated launch facilities and ground infrastructure, with the design and further development of rapidly deployable, flexible rocket propulsion systems and with the experimental validation of rocket systems and the associated operation of test facilities. Your tasks

Your main tasks are:

  • Development and establishment of metrological procedures for analysing solid propellants and measuring solid propellant engines
  • Analysis and optimisation of engines with solid propellants
  • Construction, further development and scientific operation of measurement and control systems for tests with rocket engines

 

Your profile

  • Completed scientific university degree (Diplom Uni / Master) in engineering (e.g. aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, metrology) or another degree programme relevant to the position
  • Experience in the design and realisation of metrological setups, ideally in the context of combustion processes
  • Very good written and spoken German (at least C1 level)
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Physical and emotional resilience to work in experimental operations

 

Remuneration will be paid up to pay group 13 TVöD depending on qualifications and tasks assigned.
