Junior Researcher Human-AI Collaboration for the Exploration of Large Unstructured Data (f/m/d)

Within the framework of a cooperative research project between TU Wien and USTP – University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten, we offer room for a Junior Researcher to write their dissertation in the field of visualisation, machine learning, and human-computer interaction under the joint supervision of both institutions.

The position is shared by TU Wien and USTP and offers the opportunity to conduct research at both institutions and benefit from the joint supervision.

What you will be working on:

  • You carry out your dissertation with a focus on visualisation / machine learning / human-computer interaction
  • You design, implement, evaluate, and publish innovative solutions for the collaboration between human and AI for the explorative analysis of large unstructured volumes of data
  • You independently conduct user studies in the lab and online
  • You write scientific publications, hold presentations at international conferences, and offer support in the development of research proposals
  • To a minor extent, you participate in teaching (max. 6 semester hours a week) and the supervision of students’ final theses

 

What we expect from you:

  • Successfully completed master degree programme in informatics (or comparable technical studies) that enables you to undertake a PhD/doctorate
  • Comprehensive basic knowledge and practical experience in the areas of visualisation, machine learning / AI, and human-computer interaction
  • Very good programming skills (web-based visualisation, Python, and/or GPU programming)
  • First experiences in the participation in research projects and publication activity as well as first subject-relevant professional and/or practical experience are an advantage
  • Excellent English language skills / willingness to learn German (for applicants whose native language is not German)
  • Strong interest in a PhD and the writing of scientific publications
  • Team spirit and good communication skills
