We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join the Ophthalmic Translational Research Group.
Your position
- Key person for lab organization and administration
- Perform molecular biology experiments (cloning, DNA, RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, sample preparation for sequencing)
- Perform histology on tissue samples, including sectioning, immunostaining, and confocal imaging
- Perform cell culture (standard cell lines, iPSC, iPSC-derived cells)
- Quantify images using pre-defined algorithms
- Prepare GLP compliant reports
- Keep an overview of the budget and handle orders for the group
- Collaborate closely with group members and other IOB groups and platforms
Your profile
- Biologielaborant/in (or equivalent education) or Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology or related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in ophthalmology or a similar research field
- Strong experience of cell biology, molecular biology and biological research
- Enthusiasm to support the research activities of the group through detailed lab organization
- Ability to follow GLP compliant SOPs and precision in documenting findings and preparing reports
- Independence in planning, execution, analysis and troubleshooting of standard molecular biology experiments
- Highly organized, detail-oriented and computer skilled
- Prior experience in Lab Organization
- Good written and verbal communications skills
- Fluency in oral and written English and German
