About us
As the largest biomedical research institution in Germany and a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres, we are dedicated to advancing cancer research. Our scientists study the origins of cancer, identify risk factors, and develop strategies to prevent people from developing the disease. They create innovative approaches to diagnose tumors more precisely and treat cancer patients more effectively.
Who we are
The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) stands for excellent science, groundbreaking innovations, and a clear mission: researching for a life without cancer. Discover more about our mission and values, fascinating facts and figures, and how to find us in Heidelberg.
