YOUR FUTURE RESPONSIBILITIES 
SAL is a fast-growing organization that is on the way to become a world-class R&D partner for industry in the field of electronic based systems. SAL’s Heterogeneous Integration Technologies (HIT) research unit is at the forefront of packaging and integration, bringing chips to applications. Thereby the focus lies in waferlevel packaging including hybrid bonding, assembly for flexible electronics, integration and packaging of power devices, and optical assembly & print. The research group gives a strong backbone to all other SAL research units for their assembly and integration needs and pursues also its own research agenda. 
YOUR LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Management and further development of the research unit in the Research Division Power Electronics.  
  • Research unit budget responsibility.
  • Staff responsibility for the research group including scientific support and supervision of researchers.  
  • Project initiation and management.  
  • International partner acquisition and network support.  
  • Shaping the division research program and project portfolio together with supervisors and peers.   
  • Growing the research unit towards research excellence and economic impact.
YOUR SCIENTIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Encouragement and involvement in scientific dissemination.
  • Maintaining and contributing to the scientific network.
  • Staff guidance towards research excellence.
  • Close cooperation and support of scientific and industrial project  partners in cooperative research projects.
  • Vision for long-term research opportunities in HIT.
YOUR PROFILE
  • PhD degree in electrical engineering, micro-electronics, applied physics, material science or related fields with a specialization in packaging, 
    interconnect technologies, and back-end processes.
  • At least 10 years of practical experience in one or more of the mentioned fields. Proven track record of at least 7 years team leading experience in industry and research
  • In depth knowledge of the worldwide market and the European industrial ecosystem and funding landscape.
  • Contacts within the international semiconductor industrial network is important.
  • Autonomous, well organized and enjoy working in a dynamic and multi-cultural team.
  • Leadership qualities, the ability to inspire, promote and motivate young scientists and researchers to achieve their best performance.

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA) in occupational group G (G1 salary = EUR 4.582, paid 14 times a year). Your actual salary depends on your experience and qualifications. We offer a salary in the range between EUR 85.000 to EUR 120.000 (annual, based on an All-in contract and bonus).
