Swiss Paraplegic Research (SPF) is an affiliate of the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation. The mission of SPF is sustainably improving the situation of people with spinal cord injury (SCI) through clinical and interdisciplinary research on a national and international level. Specific areas of its comprehensive research include functioning, movement and mobility, social integration, equality of opportunity, self-determination, quality of life, health services provision as well as morbidity and mortality. The Neuromusculoskeletal Functioning & Mobility group of SPF strives to improve the neuromuscular capacity of persons with SCI to optimally face their challenges of daily life.

The Neuromusculoskeletal Functioning & Mobility group is currently looking for a Senior Researcher 80-100%.

The senior researcher will contribute to applied, interdisciplinary research in a clinical setting. Research fields include the wider fields of physiology and biomechanics, related to hand surgery, robotics, pain, functional electrical stimulation and shoulder health, all in the context of persons living with an SCI.

  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of researchers, therapists, physicians and specialists in the context of SCI
  • Contribute to the development, design and conduction of relevant research projects
  • Support in data analysis and interpretation
  • Presentation of research findings at international conferences and publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Grant writing

  • PhD in Human Movement Science, Health Science or closely related
  • Post-doctoral experience in project planning and conduction, ideally >3 years with a strong publication record of international excellence
  • Experience in patient-oriented research, ideally with focus on spinal cord injury
  • Excellent skills in quantitative methods
  • Computational skills in Matlab/Python
  • Knowledge in statistical methods and in the application of statistical software package, preferable R or STATA
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in German and English
  • Independent working attitude as well as ability to work within and collaborate with different teams
