Engineer for mechanical engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering or similar (f/m/x)

The Institute for Solar Research is one of the leading research institutions in the field of concentrating solar technology and develops sustainable solutions for process heat and power supply. In the department of Solar High Temperature Technologies, we develop and demonstrate solar receivers capable of generating heat at up to 1000 °C. The System Modeling groups focus is on how these heat sources, together with other elements such as photovoltaics and thermal storage, can be used for energy supply solutions in power plants and industrial parks. Our team of young and experienced engineers models the systems and evaluates them technically and economically together with our partners from industry.

Join our team, where you will be involved in exciting tasks:

  • you will develop customized supply concepts for industrial applications
  • you will map the plant concepts in our simulation tools and thus gain an understanding of the interrelationships
  • you use the simulation results to evaluate variants and compare them economically
  • you discuss your results in the working group and present them to project partners
  • you prepare the results scientifically and present them to the professional community at conferences and in articles

Your main workplace will be in Stuttgart, but occasional travel to project partners or to conferences will take you to destinations in Germany, Europe or even internationally. Our department is located in Stuttgart and Cologne. We are used to communicating via video conferencing systems and work closely together both in the office and in the home office.

  • you have a master's degree (or equivalent) in energy technology, process technology, engineering, natural sciences or a similar field
  • you want to understand content thoroughly in order to make solid statements on technical issues
  • you find modeling and simulation of technical systems exciting, as it allows you to look at a wide range of applications
  • you have experience in the field of energy technology, preferably already in the area of solar energy
  • the daily communication as well as the exchange in the scientific context in German and English language is easy for you

Look forward to a fulfilling job with an employer who appreciates your commitment and supports your personal and professional development. Our unique infrastructure offers you a working environment in which you have unparalleled scope to develop your creative ideas and accomplish your professional objectives. Our human resources policy places great value on a healthy family and work-life-balance as well as equal opportunities for persons of all genders (f/m/x).Individuals with disabilities will be given preferential consideration in the event their qualifications are equivalent to those of other candidates.
