You will design, develop and evaluate automation functions for U-Shift vehicles. The focus here is on automated maneuvering of a driveboard for capsule changing, e.g., in a depot. For this purpose, functions such as capsule pickup in the drive board are to be implemented on the vehicle side, and automated driving maneuvers are to be realized on the infrastructure side using edge computing.
The overall goal is the safe operation of automated vehicle fleets via a control center, the approach known as 'Managed Automated Driving'. Theoretical work such as model development goes hand in hand with practical driving trials and tests. You will be part of an interdisciplinary development team consisting of DLR colleagues as well as research and industry partners, who will work together to further develop U-Shift and its automation. For further details on the U-Shift vehicle concept see www.u-shift.de.
