“Numerical Mathematics and Scientific Computing“
(Head: Prof. Dr. Volker John) devoted to the topic “Quantitative Biomedicine“, starting as soon as possible.
The successful candidate will work on the development of mathematical and numerical methods for problems motivated by the usage of medical imaging for non-invasive clinical diagnostic. Mathematical research fields of particular interests are forward and inverse modeling in computational biomechanics (biological flows and tissues), data assimilation methods, and (data-driven) reduced-order modeling. Both analytical research questions and technical implementation aspects of the resulting algorithms are of central importance. Relevant application fields include the characterization of tissue diseases and cancer biomarkers from MRI and MR Elastography images, or the modeling and assimilation of ultrasound images.
The work tasks include:
We are looking for: We seek a highly motivated, researcher with a very good degree and an excellent PhD in applied mathematics, computational sciences, or related fields, with the willingness to engage on innovative research questions and take on responsibility for interdisciplinary. Previous experience as independent researcher is desired but not required. We expect the candidate to have a strong background in numerical analysis, mathematical modeling, and scientific computing, as well as experience with scientific object-oriented programming languages (C++, Python, or Julia).
Skills and experience with at least one of the following areas is required:
