Main tasks
A PhD position is available in our research laboratory with a focus on translational oncology. The position is initially limited to three years with 65% of the regular weekly working hours.
You will work in an interdisciplinary team under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Meike Saul. The research group focuses on translational research projects in cancer research, in particular on the role of microRNAs as biomarkers for personalized therapy approaches in different tumor entities. In addition, mechanisms of cellular communication in the tumor microenvironment via extracellular vesicles (EVs, also called exosomes) are investigated and new therapeutic approaches are derived. The group uses state-of-the-art microscopic, cell biological, microbiological and immunological methods. A particular focus of the group is on RNA-based methods and the characterization of EVs at the single vesicle level.
Your activities will include:
- Applying or establishing molecular biology, cell biology and immunology techniques, including
- Working with a variety of cell lines in cell culture and with 3D models
- Data generation and analysis (e.g. WB, IHC, PCR, FACS, ELISA)
- Applying and establishing functional analysis using extracellular vesicles and microRNAs
- Histological analysis of tissue samples
- Evaluate and summarize results and present at departmental, national and international meetings
- Preparation of manuscripts
Your Profile
- University degree in biology, chemistry, pharmacy or comparable life sciences
- Good knowledge of molecular biology and (immuno)oncology, especially experience with the methods described above (at least partially) desirable
- Good knowledge of written and spoken English
- Knowledge of standard computer applications, especially MS Office
- High motivation, teamwork and communication skills, commitment, manual and organizational skills, economic sense and reliability
Immunity status
Please note that employment is only possible if there is complete proof of immunization or immunity against the measles virus in accordance with the applicable (legal and medical) requirements.
