Our Center for Energy is looking for new Ingenious Partner for our location in Vienna. At the Center for Energy we develop sustainable solutions for future energy systems, while considering technological, regulatory and economic requirements. Our thematic portfolio centers around three key systems: Smart Cities & Built Environment, Public Energy Supply Systems and Industrial Energy Systems. 

  

Our Digital Resilient Cities team enthusiastically researches solutions for the climate-resilient city of tomorrow. The goal is to scientifically and practically guide cities and regions on this path. Our multi-disciplinary team develops holistic concepts and roadmaps for sustainable and CO2-neutral, more livable cities in close collaboration with planners, property developers, technology providers, politics, and administration.



RESEARCH ENGINEER (M/F/D) FOR CLEAN URBAN ENERGY TRANSITION

CENTER FOR ENERGY

  • You advise urban decision-makers on the development and implementation of decarbonisation strategies.
  • You are involved in the assessment and planning of urban energy systems and take over the evaluation of planning options in spatial, economic, environmental and social terms.
  • You contribute to the planning, piloting and monitoring of urban energy systems, including Positive Energy Districts (PEDs).
  • You prepare holistic analyses of sustainable urban energy strategies, including energy demand and supply scenarios and assessment of local renewable energy potentials.
  • You work on the development of urban energy system models.
  • Through your commitment, you will contribute to the development of decarbonisation strategies and energy concepts for cities and regions in Austria, Europe and worldwide.
  • You will be responsible for the management of various projects. You will be closely involved in defining the content of our research topics, coordinate the research work and work packages of your competence unit's multidisciplinary team and work closely with our energy experts for climate, energy and transport modelling.
  • You will actively shape the research portfolio by acquiring new research and contract projects and by continuously expanding your network of partners from industry and public institutions.


Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:


  • Completed technical studies (at least MSc.) in energy technologies, urban energy systems, spatial planning, architecture, or similar fields of study
  • Very good knowledge of renewable energy systems and urban/national energy planning and of relevant tools (e.g., City Energy Analyst, EnergyPlus, MAED, LEAP, MESSAGE, TIMES)
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and data science as well as the corresponding software
  • Good knowledge of Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and corresponding software (OpenLCA) is advantageous.
  • Programming skills (Python, C++) are an asset
  • Fluent communication skills in German and English



What to expect: 

The minimum gross annual salary on a full-time basis (38,5 h / week) according to the collective agreement is EUR 57.890,--. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience.
