The International Max Planck Research School for Infectious Diseases and Immunology (IMPRS-IDI) is recruiting up to 7 PhD students at the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology and the Charité University in Berlin. The following PhD projects are available and will start between December 2020 and throughout the year 2021:
- In vivo imaging and manipulation of the tuberculous granuloma (Cronan lab)
- Deciphering mechanisms of polymicrobial synergy using Drosophila melanogasteras a model (Iatsenko lab)
- Deep evolutionary history of microbial pathogens using ancient DNA (Key lab)
- Within person evolution of infectious pathogens during disease (Key lab)
- The role of endosome positioning in Toll-like receptor signaling (Majer lab)
- The molecular mechanisms driving adaptive properties of innate lymphocytes (NK cells) (Romagnani lab)
- Mechanisms of Neutrophil Extracellular Trap formation (Zychlinsky lab)
We are looking for:
- creative, highly motivated and talented candidates of all nationalities who are truly committed to research
- candidates with a strong background in biophysics, biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, infection biology, immunology, microbiology, genetics, evolutionary biology, bioinformatics, computer science – please see the project descriptions on our website for particular skill requirements
- applicants must have an excellent M.Sc. or equivalent degree
