The Department of Biology at Technische Universität Darmstadt invites applications for the position of a

University Professorship (W3) for Molecular Plant Physiology   

We are looking for internationally recognized candidates whose research is molecularly and interdisciplinarily oriented. Possible research fields include: physiology of primary metabolism; genetic regulation and mechanisms of evolution; adaptation of plants to biotic and abiotic stress; plant immunity; plant-microbe interaction; functional aspects of plant systems.

The two main research areas of the department "Synthetic Biology" and/or "Radiation Response and Genome Stability" will be strengthened and expanded. The Department of Biology and the TU Darmstadt offer a stimulating and highly interdisciplinary research environment. Interactions with other natural and engineering sciences at the TU Darmstadt as well as within the RMU network are explicitly desired.

The candidate is expected to independently teach courses in Biology (B.Sc. and M.Sc.) and Biomolecular Engineering (B.Sc. and M.Sc.). Teaching encompasses the entire scope of plant biology. Many courses in the master's programs are taught in English.

A natural sciences university degree with a doctorate is required in addition to excellent scientific achievements together with didactic ability and willingness to participate in academic governance.

The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German “W- Besoldung” and subject to negotiations between the applicant and the university directorate. The regulations for employment are specified under §§ 67 and 68 HHG (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
