Postdoctoral position, infection immunology

The King lab has a fully funded postdoctoral position (3 years with the possibility to extend) available to investigate the functional impact of antibodies during infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb). The candidate will apply a variety of immunoproteomic and single cell sequencing approaches to discover, characterize and optimize Mtb specific monoclonal antibodies isolated from both mouse infection models and clinical samples. The project was recently selected for ERC Consolidator funding (to be financed by Switzerland's State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation).

Your position

  • Handle live BSL3 bacteria (Mycobacterium tuberculosis)
  • Clone and express antibody variable genes; characterize and assess the therapeutic potential of Mtb-specific monoclonal antibodies using state or the art in vitro and in vivo approaches
  • Analyze and interpret data; demonstrate creative, critical and solution oriented thinking

Your profile

  • PhD in immunology (or closely related field, e.g. infection biology, microbiology, etc)
  • Demonstrated experience with mass spectrometry, antibody engineering or antibody glycosylation

We offer you

  • a highly collaborative, international and interactive environment
  • the laboratory is part of a larger network of immunology research labs (https://ubico.unibas.ch/en/people/) which fosters the training and advancement of junior scientists
