The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a world-leading institute in global health with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries. The Clinical Research Unit (Head: Klaus Reither) performs high quality clinical research with translational impact and fosters clinical development of safe, effective and affordable medicines and devices for the benefit of people in and from resource limited countries.

The Clinical Tuberculosis Research Group invites applications for a TB Scientist (100%).

Your position

  • To design, implement and coordinate clinical and epidemiological tuberculosis (TB) studies in close collaboration with partner institutes primarily in Tanzania, Lesotho and Georgia
  • To analyze and publish research data and to present findings at scientific meetings
  • To develop new TB research project proposals, trial budgets and study protocols
  • To contribute to the teaching and training programs at Swiss TPH and University of Basel
  • To develop and maintain clinical research partnerships with Swiss TPH's collaborators


Your profile

  • Medical Doctor certification required; an additional PhD is an appreciated asset
  • Proven track record in clinical TB research (minimum of 5 years)
  • Advanced skills in statistical analyses
  • Ability to work independently
  • Team player with good social skills
  • Reliable, precise, and well-structured working style
  • Flexibility and willingness to stay and work outside of Switzerland
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written) is required; French is seen as an asset
