What you can expect
The department Information systems and mobility is researching individualised mobility solutions to supplement existing public transport services. Automated vehicles of a smaller size are to act as feeder vehicles to conventional public transport. In this way, routes on the first/last mile can be adapted to the needs of passengers and the attractiveness of public transport can be increased. To ensure effective operational management in on-demand transport, we localise passengers in real time using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and other modern technologies for this purpose.
The aim of the work is to develop a suitable model (e.g., Fuzzy-Logic / Hidden Markov Model) to effectively capture the boarding and alighting process with BLE.
