Assistant Professorship (Tenure Track) for Youth Mental Health

Assistant Professorship (Tenure Track) for Youth Mental Health

100%

The Faculty of Psychology of the University of Basel, Switzerland, invites applications for an Assistant Professorship (Tenure Track) for Youth Mental Health to begin on August 1, 2023.

Your position

You are responsible for conducting excellent research in the field of clinical child and adolescent psychology and providing teaching in the field of clinical child and adolescent psychology (4 semester hours per week) in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs. You also make a significant contribution to raising the profile of the new research focus Health & Interventions through studies, publications, and acquiring third-party funding.
The aim is to establish a Professorship for Youth Mental Health, who will, for example, develop available data and results for clinical decisions through meta-/network meta-analyses, systematic reviews and evidence-based recommendations, make effective use of the results of psychological research, develop and evaluate innovative interventions, establish active university and regional collaborations, and make a recognizable contribution to further education and public service. It is of great importance that mental health is perceived holistically; that is, focusing on mental health and its conditions and effects in psychological as well as psychosomatic and medical symptoms, disorders and diseases, and also on the impact of mental disorders on development, functioning, and coping with developmental tasks, for example in a school context. The planned professorship will complement existing university units and structures in the fields of clinical child and adolescent research and treatment (e.g., UKBB, UPK and BRCCR) and maintain active collaborations with them. This also closes a major gap in the study of psychology at our Faculty thus also providing access to an important field of research and its application with the greatest societal potential.

Your profile

We are looking for someone who can establish and further develop psychological research and teaching in the field of clinical child and adolescent psychology at the Basel campus. You should be experienced in psychological research, have a distinguished international publication record, and have experience in the competitive acquisition of third-party funding. The Assistant Professorship for Youth Mental Health is intended to provide the Faculty of Psychology with development opportunities in research and teaching and to open up access to attractive research and job market opportunities for students and graduates. Therefore, clinical experience would be an advantage. We expect a willingness to engage in teaching and active participation in academic self-governance together with cooperative collaboration within the Faculty of Psychology and the University of Basel.

We offer you

The position will be filled as an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track). The University of Basel stands for excellence through diversity and is committed to equal opportunities and family-friendliness. In its efforts to increase the proportion of women in professorships, the university is particularly interested in receiving applications from women. Applications can also be submitted as a shared professorship by two suitable candidates. Promotion is implemented according to university guidelines.

Application/Contact

Qualified candidates are asked to submit their complete application documents (letter of motivation, CV, listing of publications in peer-reviewed journals, five most important publications as a pdf file, research and teaching concept, teaching evaluations, third-party funding incl. total sum and further relevant documents) by November 15, 2022 via the online application portal of the University of Basel. Applications by other means will not be considered.
