The DLR Institute for Optical Sensor Systems develops, tests and uses optical sensors and spectroscopic techniques for various applications. In the department of Terahertz and Laser Spectroscopy, work is carried out on the development of tailored optical systems with the aim of their application for laboratory analysis and for remote sensing of extraterrestrial objects inside and outside our galaxy. Another focus of the work is to adapt suitable laser spectroscopy methods for future robotic missions to explore our solar system.
We are offering a part-time position in the Physical Foundations of IT Security team within the Terahertz and Laser Spectroscopy department. Our research interests include fundamental methods and technologies as well as applications of optical quantum technologies. The former include quantum light sources and quantum memories. The latter include repeater-based quantum communications, optical quantum computing, and optical neuromorphic computing architectures for artificial intelligence.
Applicants are expected to further strengthen our team in researching quantum memories based on room temperature vapor cells for quantum tokens. Scientific methods of atomic physics, in particular the concept of electromagnetically induced transparency in lambda systems, will be applied.
