Two PhD positions in the Delley Group, Department of Chemistry, University of Basel

Two PhD positions are opening in the Department of Chemistry within the Delley research group at the University of Basel (https://delley.chemie.unibas.ch/en/) working in the area of surface chemistry and heterogeneous catalysis.

Your position

The two positions can each start as early as 1.2.2023 or later (starting date to be fixed upon agreement between the candidate and Prof. Delley).

The topic of the research project of Position 1 is 'Tuning catalysis by controlled surface modifications'. The project is highly interdisciplinary and includes the preparation and surface-modification of inorganic materials, heterogeneous catalysis, and a range of spectroscopy.

The topic of the research project of Position 2 is 'Surface chemistry of rationally modified inorganic materials'. The project is highly interdisciplinary and includes the preparation of inorganic materials, the controlled modification of materials, reactivity studies, and a range of spectroscopy.

Your profile

Candidates must be highly motivated, should recently have obtained a Master degree in chemistry or a related discipline, and bring a solid chemical background, and ideally experience in experimental inorganic or organometallic chemistry, material chemistry, heterogeneous catalysis, or spectroscopy.

Application / Contact

Interested candidates should send the following documents by email to Prof. Murielle Delley (Email: murielle.delley@unibas.ch):

1. Letter of motivation

2. CV

3. Copy of Master and Bachelor diplomas
