PhD position (Junior Scientist) – Millimeter Wave MIMO Radar systems (f/m/d)

Festanstellung, Vollzeit · LINZ

YOUR FUTURE RESPONSIBILITIES
SALs industry partners developed the world’s most compact and efficient MIMO radar for demanding industrial imaging applications. Though in markets there are still no competitive solutions – we’re looking beyond the horizon for solutions that are more versatile and modular that could have wide range of applications including every day’s life applications.

In this PhD, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Working on millimeter wave massive MIMO Radar systems for industrial and commercial applications.
  • Working on development of a new generation Radar with integrated antennas that will open new doors in wide range of applications from automotive to demanding industrial applications.
  • You will collaborate with two leading industry players and be supported by the scientific team at SAL and receive academic supervision from JKU Linz.
  • Explore literature and review current state of the art solutions, their pros and cons and compare them against our new ideas and proposals.
  • Perform necessary system level simulations to evaluate performances of the proposed solutions and select the best architectures.
  • Working on development of a hardware and software concepts for MIMO radar, considering various aspects like: array configuration and topology, power distribution, signal processing of collected data, choosing the most effective radar cell options for the usage as a building block of bigger or massive MIMO radar systems.
  • Design, simulate & build prototype hardware to deploy & test ideas. Benchmark your prototype against other solutions.
  • Work with other PhD students & scientific staff in the same project.
  • Technical and academic support of master student and interns.
