Around 40% of global CO2 emissions are attributed to the heat supply of industrial processes, heating and hot water supply in buildings and in agriculture. To date, heating requirements of these sectors are mainly covered with coal, natural gas and crude oil. You strive to change this, and to replace fossil fuels with renewables energies? Then join our team!
Since its founding in 2011, the Institute of Solar Research at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) has been researching and developing concentrated solar power (CSP) systems for solar thermal power plants that convert solar energy into heat, electricity and fuels. DLR is the largest German research institution in this field, and has a leading role in Europe and the world in the development and qualification of related technologies. Concentrating solar collectors – for example parabolic trough collectors – are capable of providing temperatures of up to 400 °C and higher. In addition to direct steam generation in the solar field, pressurized water, oil or molten salts are used as heat transfer media.
Together with colleagues from our research team, you will develop solutions for solar thermal process heat plants and work out methods for their design. You will support our national and international projects through independent scientific development work, especially in the area of measurement data evaluation and the assessment of plant concepts. You will present your results in the project team, at international conferences and in scientific articles. The supervision of students during their Bachelor and Master thesis also belongs to your field of activities.
The position is based at the Institute of Solar Research in Cologne. Flexible working hours and mobile workplace concepts are part of our everyday life.
Look forward to a fulfilling job with an employer who appreciates your commitment and supports your personal and professional development. Our unique infrastructure offers you a working environment in which you have unparalleled scope to develop your creative ideas and accomplish your professional objectives.
