As a Senior Policy Advisor for EU Affairs/Dutch Research Grants for 1.0 FTE, you are the first person of contact for professors and researchers, in particular in terms of personal grants and externally funded consortium grants. You contribute to increasing the chances of success for acquiring national and international research grants. You will be working near the city centre of Breda, on the green, sustainable and high-tech campus of Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas).
About this job
In this position you are the key resource contact for professors and researchers to write and submit grants, facilitate compliance in grant development, execution and reporting. You will be a member of the Research and Graduate School (RGS) team.
Together with relevant researchers, research institutes and academies, you will identify subsidy opportunities, asses these for BUas domains and research themes, and support researchers in translating these into initiatives. You keep track (and actively participate in the design) of relevant policy developments for the BUas research domains (UASNL, UAS4EUROPE). Moreover, you will represent BUas in networks of policy as well as funding channels relevant to BUas. You actively participate in the design of new subsidy programmes (e.g. SIA, SPRONG), whenever relevant, and screen draft consortium agreements and provide professional feedback to researchers.
You will also support the design and delivery of training and workshops to researchers with the aim of increasing of the success rate of proposals, awareness of the possibilities and supplies, and lowering the 'request treshold'.
What do we offer?
The salary for this position amounts to a monthly minimum of €4,715.81 and a monthly maximum of €6,064.86 (gross amounts based on full-time employment);
This position is classified as scale 12 of the CAO HBO (collective labour agreement). Your official job title will be ‘Senior Policy Officer’;
This position involves a one-year employment contract with the possibility of conversion into an indefinite employment contract;
Your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed when you travel by public transport;
You will receive compensation for health insurance;
You will receive a 13th month payment and an 8% holiday allowance;
You will also be awarded professional development hours every year and almost eleven weeks of holiday entitlements in a full-time position;

What do we ask of you?
You have an academic level of professional and intellectual ability, and preferably a PhD;
You have an excellent command of the Dutch and English language, because you will be working in an international setting;
You have knowledge of and senior level expertise in European Horizon and NWO grant programmes; especially for higher education and a broad interest in scientific research; and you have demonstrably succeeded in acquiring subsidies;
You are experienced in advising researchers on drafting and submitting of grant applications for complex research projects;
You bring in and maintain a relevant network of Dutch and international contacts that allows BUas research programmes to grow further, within their own domains as well as across other domains;
You bring senior experience in grant policy advice, within Dutch higher education (NWO/SIA) or EU-funded programmes (Horizon and others);
You are able to build relationships with national and international funding agencies, business and industry representatives, as well as educational and community partners.
