Overview


The Department of Comparative Pathobiology provides an environment that fosters and supports biomedical research with a focus on NIH funded projects. The present position is one supported by a grant awarded to Dr. Vassoler, who will supervise the activities of the newly hired research technician.


What You'll Do


We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual for a 2 year, grant funded Research Technician role.

As a Research Technician you will be responsible for:

  • data collection, analysis and management for studies involving both behavioral and molecular neuroscience endpoints.
    • qPCR, westerns, immunohistochemistry, ELISAs
    • Stereotaxic surgery, operant conditioning, tissue harvesting)
  • General lab maintenance, including inventory control
  • Animal Colony Management
  • Animal husbandry.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor


Opportunities for professional development related to scientific writing and presentation may be available.

 

The hire will need to occasionally work weekend hours as well as be able to commute to UMass Med to assist during the normal work day with our project collaborators located at the Worcester campus.

 

What We're Looking For


Basic Requirements:

  • Applicant should have a BA or BS with specialization in neuroscience, biology, chemistry, and/or psychology.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in behavioral testing and molecular biology is preferred.
  • Prior experience with lab animals is preferred.


Pay Range


Minimum $19.80, Midpoint $23.55, Maximum $27.30

 


Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
