Senior Research Scientist (m/w/d)



With around 150 member companies from the food industry and related fields, the DIL operates as a research institute in the areas of food product development, process development and food analysis. Forming a bridge between science and practice, DIL supports its partners in the innovation process. Department Advanced Technologies is working on development of new technologies and their customized applications in research and production processes. Our research focus lies in increasing product quality and safety, process efficiency, while considering scalability, costs and sustainability. Technologies in focus are high pressure (HPP, HPH, SCF), pulsed electric fields, ultrasounds, ohmic heating, E-Beam, light technologies (UV, IR) and others. 



Job description

  • Activities in R&D projects in the field of food science, process engineering, food technology and related areas
  • Ensuring high quality acquisition of data within the projects (process conditions, influence on food safety, food quality, sustainability, etc.)
  • Assisting and independent preparation of scientific publications, research proposals, reports, and similar related documents, as well as teaching
  • Participation in project meetings, conferences, and seminars (also incl. travelling)
  • Supervision of theses (MSc., BSc., PhD)


Profile

  • PhD (or soon to finish) in the field of food technology, (bio)process engineering or similar.
  • Experience in project management and/or food industry is desired.
  • Independent and responsible working skills, critical eye towards consistency, reproducibility, and the scientific method in general.
  • Teamwork and communication skills.
  • Scientific writing skills demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications.
  • Excellent German and English writing and speaking skills.
