Are you a dedicated and ambitious researcher who wants to conduct translational immunological research using state-of-the-art technologies? Additionally, do you have a keen interest in utilizing new tools to test vaccines, advanced in vitro cultures, and (mucosal) immunity? Then you might be the postdoc we are looking for.

About your role

Novel vaccines for respiratory viral pathogens are urgently needed. However, the testing and licensure of such new vaccines are complicated by the fact that in vitro assays poorly predict how these vaccines will perform upon administration. Within the Innov4Vac consortium, you will be involved in developing methods to functionally study antigen-specific T-cell responses, utilizing advanced in vitro cultures in conjunction with immune cells. You will develop these assays and employ them to enhance our understanding of how the immune response can combat infection. Ultimately, you will use unique clinical samples to determine whether this assay can predict susceptibility to influenza or RSV infections in humans.

About you

  • (Bio)medical or biochemical academic degree and a PhD in immunology.
  • Hands-on experience with using primary cell culture models (including organoids) and/or viral (influenza) infections of cells is preferable.
  • Enthusiastic and ambitious, with a proactive and determined approach.
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate with colleagues.
  • Experience in human immunology, particularly related to antigen-specific T cells or mucosal immunology, would be advantageous.
