inspire AG, which works in close cooperation with ETH Zurich, conducts basic and application- oriented research in many fields of production technology. It is the leading Swiss competence centre for technology transfer to the mechanical, electrical and metal industries. The fields of work range from production machines to manufacturing processes and machine simulation to virtual reality. To strengthen the process research group, we are offering the following position as of now or according to agreement. 


Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) – Machining processes (80-100%) 


Place of work: Zurich 

Are you a highly motivated and enthusiastic researcher or engineer looking to make a difference in the field of machining? inspire AG is seeking a highly motivated full-time Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team. You will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects involving the whole spectrum of machining processes such as grinding, milling, drilling, EDM, and corresponding modelling techniques. You will be responsible for project management, supervision and acquisition acquisition of projects with our industry partner. You explore the industry needs, create technology transfer projects and actively shape our group. Apart from this, the position includes international collaborations with academia and industry, mentoring BSc, MSc and PhD students, and the potential for transitioning to work with our industrial partner. You ensure that the projects are completed on time and within budget. 


Your profile: 

  • Highly motivated, self-driven, and showing excellent performance 
  • First-rate oral and written German and English skills and an interest in writing 
  • Adaptable and flexible to the continuous changes associated with research demands 
  • Confirmed publication on some of the methodological areas of interest 
  • PhD degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Automation, or similar 
  • Strong experience with good coding practices in Python 
  • Strong knowledge Machining and experience with process simulation 
  • Ability to work with machine tools and measuring equipment 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to write clear and concise documentation 
  • Strong technical skills and an interest in learning about new technologies and techniques
