Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, PROBIOTIC RESEARCH, Mechanical Engineering-Traverso Lab, to join a multidisciplinary group that supports initiatives focused on developing clinically-relevant solutions to gastrointestinal and vaginal probiotic delivery systems.  Will learn and assist with current protocols for high throughput screening, DNA isolation for sequencing, lyophilization, and excipient/formulation characterization along with culturing aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.  Duties will also include providing support in the areas of lab administration, supply and equipment maintenance, environmental health and safety policies and procedures, and training and coordinating the work of staff/students.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: B.S. in microbiology, pharmaceutical sciences, biology, bioengineering, molecular biology, biomedical engineering or pharmacology/toxicology, or a related field; at least two years of experience, preferably in a microbiological laboratory (co-op and/or internship experience considered); proficiency with pipetting and serial dilutions, aseptic technique and bacterial culturing, and media/plate preparations; and strong organizational, interpersonal and documentation skills. PREFERRED:  experience with culturing in an anaerobic chamber; experience working with liquid handling robots or high throughput screening experiments; experience with DNA isolation, plasmid cloning, and DNA sequencing; experience with mammalian cell culturing; experience with and/or knowledge of lyophilization, pharmaceutical formulation development and formulation development, and formulations characterizations.  Job #23315

Salary range: $50,000 - 56,000, depending on related experience, expertise, and internal equity
