Technical Associate I, Molecular Biology-Traverso Lab
Job Description
TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, MOLECULAR BIOLOGY, Mechanical Engineering-Traverso Lab, to join a multidisciplinary group that supports initiatives focused on developing clinically-relevant solutions to gastrointestinal and vaginal probiotic delivery systems. Will learn and assist with current protocols for high throughput screening, DNA isolation for sequencing, lyophilization, and excipient/formulation characterization along with culturing aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. Duties will also include providing support in the areas of lab administration, supply and equipment maintenance, environmental health and safety policies and procedures, and training and coordinating the work of staff/students.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, biology, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, microbiology, or pharmacology/toxicology; at least two years of experience in a molecular biology or biochemistry lab (may include co-ops and internships; proficiency with pipetting, serial dilutions, and aseptic technique; experience with DNA isolation, plasmid cloning, and DNA sequencing; experience both designing and conducting PCR; and experience with bacterial and mammalian cell culturing; willingness to learn new tools and techniques; self-motivation; strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; comfort summarizing and reporting results to interdisciplinary researchers; commitment to exceeding standards and producing accurate, high-quality work; meticulous attention to detail; practiced documentation skills; and ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment. PREFERRED: experience working with liquid handling robots or high throughput screening experiments; experience with and knowledge of culturing in an anaerobic chamber, lyophilization, pharmaceutical formulation development, and formulations characterizations; experience with programming languages such as Python. Salary range: $50,000 - 56,000, depending on related experience, expertise, and internal equity
