Job Description

CLINICAL INVESTIGATOR/RESEARCH SCIENTIST, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, to join the Charles W. (1955) and Jennifer C. Johnson Clinical Investigator program.  This unique program is designed to create the next generation of physician-scientists whose research and clinical work focuses on human cancer. The program recruits M.D. and M.D.-Ph.Ds. who have completed their clinical training and are in the early stages of their postdoctoral research and provides them with resources to establish an independent research program prior to their search for a tenure-track faculty position. These resources include dedicated laboratory space in the MIT Koch Institute, a generous start-up package, and principal investigator status at MIT when applying for federal and private foundation grants. Clinical investigators are expected to spend 80% time performing and directing research at the Koch Institute of MIT and 20% time at a Boston area hospital where they have a clinical appointment and practice in a cancer-related clinical specialty.  Will also be responsible for organizing the Koch Institute Clinical Oncology seminar series and for helping MIT build the bridge between basic cancer research and the clinical care of patients.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D. or M.D.; clinical appointment in the greater Boston/Cambridge area in a cancer-related clinical specialty; demonstrated track record of scientific productivity; and a vision for independent research program in cancer biology, cancer-related biological engineering, or cancer therapeutics.  Job #22547

Salary will be commensurate with level of experience.
