Research Laboratory Technician Position in Diabetes/Immunometabolism Lab

The research group Diabetes under guidance of Prof. Marc Donath offers a Research Laboratory Technician position in the context of endocrinology/metabolism/diabetes. This position will be based in the Department of Biomedicine (https://biomedizin.unibas.ch) at the University of Basel/University Hospital Basel, Switzerland.
The Diabetes group studies the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes and in particular how components of the immune system interact with endocrine pathways to manage energy distribution and tissue metabolism. We focus on hormones secreted by pancreatic islet cells, tissue macrophages and the pathological/physiological role of the macrophage-derived cytokine Interleukin-1 beta.
Your position
Support PhD students in their projects with hands-on work. Develop and run assays. Manage data. Help to run the lab by performing common lab task such as ordering and re-stocking materials. Show interest in, discuss and provide input to various research projects.
Your profile
The candidate is expected to be have a Laboratory technician apprenticeship or a Bachlor's Degree, be enthusiastic about immune-metabolic research and interact and exchange with other members of the lab. The candidate should be comfortable working with mice and prior experience with in vivo work are of advantage. The primary lab language is English and good written and oral skills are required.

The applied research models are predominantly genetically-modified in vivo and ex vivo mouse models in combination with pharmacological tools. Other state-of-the-art lab techniques applied are flow-cytometry, histology, qPCR as well as various protein and enzyme activity assays.
