We invite you to join our dedicated team that is passionate about protecting maritime infrastructures. In an era where technology and maritime security are inextricably linked, we offer an inspiring environment where you can develop your skills and make a significant contribution to our mission. If you are ready to join us in tackling the challenges of the modern maritime world, we look forward to welcoming you to our team!

Join a team focused on developing technologies to protect the maritime sector. We are the innovators behind pioneering concepts that keep everything from harbours to offshore wind farms safe and secure. As a member of our Maritime Security Technologies team, you'll have the opportunity to explore innovative solutions that matter to everyone.

Do you want to work with a wide diversity of sensors, whether on land or in water? Preferably as part of a large sensor system? That's exactly what you'll do! Processing data from different sensor systems or visualizing these data with creative designs, but also teaching a common language for communication between these sensors. This exciting pioneering work for the future of maritime security is waiting for you.

But that's not all – your work will be a puzzle piece in a larger picture. You'll be part of an important project integrating these next-gen systems into our maritime situation picture – a big leap forward in maritime security.

Perhaps you are also thinking about pursuing a PhD? At DLR, we will also support your academic journey!

Become part of our young, cooperative and dynamic team and take on the following tasks:

  • Creation of concepts and feasibility studies for various system concepts
  • Specification of system architecture and system components
  • Software development for the design of various system components and their integration into an overall system image
  • Testing the system together with instrument and data scientists
  • Publication and presentation of research results

Your qualifications:

  • completed academic studies (university diploma or master's degree) in computer science (e.g. applied computer science, media informatics), in an engineering-scientific field (e.g. electrical engineering), in a scientific field (e.g. physics) or other courses of study relevant for the job
  • strong knowledge of common programming paradigms and languages (especially object-oriented and functional languages, such as C++, Java, Python, Scala, Haskell, and/or Rust)
  • relevant experience in the field of sensor networks or other comparable systems
  • experience in software and/or systems engineering preferable
  • experience in conducting research projects with industry and research partners is a plus
  • strong communication and cooperation skills as well as the ability to work in a team
  • ability and willingness to acquire missing knowledge at short notice if required
  • creativity, initiative and reliability
  • very good command of the English language both written and spoken
