MASTER THESIS “ENHANCING EXPERIENCE IN CHATBOT DESIGN THROUGH AI INTEGRATION

Our Center for Digital Safety and Security located in Vienna invites applications for a Master Thesis position. At the Center for Digital Safety and Security our research field Data Science within the Competence Unit “Data Science & Artificial Intelligence” is leading in applied research of highly innovative aspects for scalable Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications as well as data science consulting and solutions for informed decisions based on big, heterogeneous and real-time data under strict IT security and privacy conditions. 


Currently, as part of an AIT innovation project, we are engaged in the research and development of a novel approach for AI-based Chatbot, in which we which to quantitatively evaluate optimal model types, model parameters, and prompts for such a system.



MASTER THESIS “ENHANCING EXPERIENCE IN CHATBOT DESIGN THROUGH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) INTEGRATION”

CENTER FOR DIGITAL SAFETY & SECURITY

  • Throughout this master thesis project, you will intensively deal with the topic of AI & Data Science and the experience design of interactions with the chatbot.
  • You will focus on the technical development of a chatbot evaluation platform, and the analysis of data gathered by through that platform.
  • For the project, you will work together with a 2nd master student in the field of User Experience/Human Computer Interaction and together you will develop the chatbot of the future.
  • The main goal of this master thesis is to develop a novel approach for internal usage of a Chatbot system.
  • Important aspects of your thesis will include Retrieval Augmented Generation and LLM optimization. A central goal is to build a system for the evaluation of the application parameters and to quantitatively analyse the application through this system.


Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:


  • Ongoing master's studies in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related fields.
  • Data Science analysis and Software development skills with Python
  • Experience with Large Language Model APIs a plus
  • You are excited about application-oriented challenges in AI approaches
  • High level of commitment and ability to work in a team
  • Good language skills in German or English (written & spoken)


Details:


  • Duration of the Master project: 6 months
  • AIT supervises Master students together with local universities, such as the TU Wien, the University of Vienna or the Johannes Kepler University Linz.
  • Admission at an university is compulsory and independent from the Master position at AIT.



What to expect: 


EUR 889,90 gross per month, for 20 h / week based on the collective agreement. In addition to numerous events, seminars and networking opportunities, there will be additional company benefits.
