Our Center for Digital Safety & Security is looking for new Ingenious Partner for our location in Vienna. In the Center for Digital Safety & Security we develop state-of-the-art information and communication technologies to ensure that our systems are highly secure and reliable in the context of comprehensive digitalisation and global networking – Hereby we focus on a variety of key technologies like Distributed IT Systems, Internet of Things, IoT, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain Technologies, Quantum & Photonic Technologies, Wireless Systems (6G) and Digital solutions for crisis & disaster management. 

  

The research field Cyber Security within AIT’s Competence Unit for Security and Communication Technologies focuses on various aspects of security, including anomaly detection, cyber ranges, penetration testing, and cryptography. The cryptography team is conducting research in various directions, including secure communication, privacy-enhancing technologies, and long-term and post-quantum security.



JUNIOR SCIENTIST (M/F/D) – SECURITY AND PRIVACY IN DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS (LIMITED TO THREE YEARS)

WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF WRITING A PHD-THESIS

  • You will become part of a European research project aiming at developing advanced solutions to protect data throughout its entire lifecycle in the context of privacy-preserving machine learning.
  • Under the guidance of our team, you will contribute to the research in the design and analysis of related cryptographic protocols.
  • You will develop prototypes of the designed primitives and systems.
  • Your research will increase the practicability of advanced cryptographic primitives for privacy and confidentiality.
  • You will support senior team members in the supervision of interns and students.
  • Together with internal and external experts in the field, you will publish your scientific outcomes in top-tier journals and conferences.
  • You will be able to interact with research and industrial partners on national and international levels on exciting, novel topics, allowing you to continuously enhance your own knowledge and skills.
  • You will have the opportunity to present your research at international research conferences and discuss it with the cryptographic community, thereby strengthening your professional network and academic profile.


Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:

  • Applicants are required to hold a MSc degree (or equivalent) in computer science, mathematics, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of cryptography (at least one course specializing on cryptography) is expected
  • Special interest in applied research and the solution of practical problems, in particular in the areas of cryptography and information security
  • High level of commitment and ability to work in a team
  • Good knowledge of a programming language (e.g., C/C++, Rust, Java, Python) and software development is a plus
  • Very good written and oral English skills; knowledge of German is not a requirement



What to expect: 

The minimum gross annual salary on a full-time basis (38,5 h / week) according to the collective agreement is EUR 53.578,--. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience.
